THE SYMPOSIUM

Organised by the Laboratoire d'Electrotechnique de Grenoble (LEG), ENSIEG, France, the Unit of Applied Electricity (ELAP), Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Liège, Belgium, and the Electrical Engineers Association of the Montefiore Institute (AIM), Belgium.

The 7th International Symposium on Electric and Magnetic Fields, EMF, will be held in Aussois, France, from 20 to 22 June 2006. Previous editions were held in Liège (September 1992), Leuven (May 1994), Liège (May 1996), Marseille (May 1998), Ghent (May 2000) and Aachen (October 2003).

Aussois is a charming mountain village on a vast sunny plateau, 1500 m high, offering a magnificent panorama of the surrounding massifs and direct access to the Vanoise National Park. It is a very accessible resort, only 10 minutes drive from the motorway exit near the TGV station of Modane (4 hrs from Paris by train).

The purpose of the Symposium is to throw a bridge between the recent advances of research in numerical modelling of electromagnetic fields and the growing number of industrial problems requiring such techniques. Therefore, beside classical sessions on the progress of computational methods, special sessions will be devoted to advanced industrial applications of electromagnetic modelling, including invited lectures.

A one-day tutorial will be organized the day preceding the Symposium. This tutorial will focus on the movement modelling in electromagnetic systems. Various techniques will be presented and illustrated.
